MEET THE OYSTER NINJA
My name is Gardner Douglas, though many people know me as The Oyster Ninja.
My journey with oysters started long before I ever shucked for a crowd. Growing up around the Chesapeake region, I was surrounded by the people, traditions, and waterways that have shaped oyster culture for generations. My father, Samuel Fisher, a nationally ranked oyster shucker, introduced me to the craft and passed down a deep appreciation for the hard work, skill, and community that oysters represent.
Over the years, oysters became more than seafood to me. They became a way to connect with people.
After serving in the Army, I found myself drawn back to the water and the stories that surround it. What began as a passion for oyster shucking grew into S.S.Shucking, a mobile raw bar dedicated to bringing fresh oysters, genuine hospitality, and memorable experiences directly to people throughout Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, and beyond.
Today, I shuck oysters at weddings, corporate events, private parties, festivals, breweries, and community gatherings. Whether I'm serving lifelong oyster lovers or introducing someone to their very first oyster, my goal is always the same: create an experience that feels welcoming, educational, and fun.
I believe great seafood should bring people together, not intimidate them.
